The Department of Management Science at School of Management, Fudan University invites applications for open rank faculty positions, starting in Fall 2024.
Candidates should have or be near the completion of a Ph.D. in Operations Management, Operations Research, Business Analytics, Data Science, Financial Engineering or related fields. Candidates applying for Associate or Full Professor position should demonstrate excellent teaching and research records. Candidates applying for Assistant Professor position should demonstrate strong potential for research and teaching.
Our faculty will arrange on-site interviews for selected candidates at the INFORMS Annual Meeting on October 15-18, 2023 in Phoenix, AZ. To ensure full consideration, candidates should submit before October 8, 2023 by emailing a detailed curriculum vita, statements of research and teaching interests, and copies of two sample research papers to Faculty Office at hrfdms@fudan.edu.cn with the subject heading “FDSM Faculty Application 2023-Management Science”.
School Overview
Fudan University launched its business discipline in 1917, and later established the School of Business in 1929. But the management education was suspended in 1952, when the waves of restructuring hit all the universities and colleges nationwide. After China started to implement the reform and opening-up policy, Fudan University took the lead to resume the management education, and started to enroll undergraduates in Management discipline in 1977. The University later set up the Department of Management Science in 1979 and finally reestablished the School of Management in 1985.
After rapid development over three decades, the School now consists of 8 departments and 29 cross-disciplinary research institutes. It includes 5 disciplines and 12 sub-disciplines that award doctoral degrees, and 5 disciplines and 18 sub-discipline that award master’s degrees. The School provides 5 professional master’s degree programs including MBA/EMBA, Master of Professional Accountants (MPAcc) Program, Master of International Business Program, Master of Finance Program, and Master of Applied Statistics Program. It also has 7 undergraduate programs and 4 mobile stations for post-do...ctoral research. In the 2018 China University Professional-degree Rankings released by the China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center, Fudan University received an A+ in the discipline of Business Administration.
The School boasts a total of 166 faculty members, including 58 full professors and 62 associate professors. 98% of the faculty holds a PhD degree, among them 81 faculty members obtained PhD degrees from overseas, accounting for 49% of the total faculty members.
Several decades of hard work have led to great achievements in various disciplines and research areas, with some being highly influential both home and abroad, as well as a long list of top-level academic papers, theses and patents, an array of outstanding leaders in all kinds of academic researches, and plenty of high-quality research teams. FDSM ranks 76th worldwide in the 2023-released UT Dallas Top 100 Business School Research Rankings (2018-2022), landing again at No.1 in Chinese mainland and among the global top 100, a position it has maintained for 8 consecutive years.
In order to promote the exchanges and cooperative research with the world’s top business schools and develop more diversified global resources, the School has also joined many prestigious international organizations for business education. In 2007, FDSM was admitted as a formal member of the Partnership in International Management (PIM) and in 2009, became the 173rd full member of Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). The School jointly launched the Council on Business and Society (CoBS) in 2011 and joined the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM) as a founding member in the year of 2012. The School was awarded the EQUIS Accreditation by EFMD in 2009, and received the five-year EQUIS re-accreditation in 2012, 2017, and 2023 respectively. Meanwhile, the School achieved the AACSB Accreditation in 2010 at a fast pace and obtained the five-year AACSB re-accreditation in 2015 and 2020 respectively.
