This position is responsible for the development and review of a variety of traffic engineering construction projects.
Essential Job Functions
Manages capital improvement projects; prepares requests for proposals, calculates construction quantities; submits pay estimates; completes inspections; resolves problems; documents project development through the completion of reports.
Directs work during design and construction phases; coordinates major contract modifications during construction.
Reviews capital improvement and public and private construction plans for vehicle and pedestrian safety, mobility, signage, street lighting, development, and compliance with applicable laws and design standards.
Visits private and subdivision construction sites for problem resolution and inspections.
Reviews traffic analysis studies submitted by engineering consultants for methodology, accuracy, and impact to existing road systems and infrastructure.
Researches and prepares or revises reports, procedures manuals, and policies.
Attends preconstruction meetings to discuss possible issues with design engineers, contractors, and other department representatives.
Calculates trip generations and traffic impact for proposed private development.
Reviews as-built construction drawings for accuracy and conformance with standards.
Reviews construction bond estimates for subdivision infrastructure improvements.
Represents the department at site plan review meetings.
Reviews zoning appeals for possible traffic problems.
Designs minor projects; makes intersection improvement recommendations.
Reviews permits for location and geometric requirements.
Investigates citizen complaints and makes recommendations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with four (4) years of engineering management experience including personnel management and administration experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires a Georgia Professional Engineers license.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
Additional Requirements Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
