The Management Science department at the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business (DMSB) invites applications for an open rank professional (non-tenure) track faculty position with an emphasis on business analytics. The anticipated start date for this position is August 16, 2023. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching analytics-oriented courses and will also assume the role of Managing Director for the Center for Applied Business Analytics (CABA) at the Moore School. CABA has been actively working with the analytics community within and outside of the DMSB with a vision to “serve as a nationally recognized and sought-after partner for innovating, developing, and disseminating business analytics education, renowned for our emphasis on experiential learning, collaboration, and community engagement.” Since its founding, CABA has formed an executive council of corporate partners and has been continually working to disseminate analytics knowledge by organizing workshops, hackathons, and seminars, and identifying industry partners for student projects in the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program.

Appointment at the rank of Lecturer requires a master’s degree in Business, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related analytics-oriented field. Appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor requires a Ph.D. in Business, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related analytics-oriented field. Applicants for the rank of Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor must additionally have the appropriate years of experience teaching business analytics in higher education and/or comparable professional experience in business analytics consistent with academic policy.
Candidates for this position must demonstrate a passion and competence for teaching analytical topics, using MS Excel, SQL, R, MS PowerBI or other analytical software. Mentoring students on analytical projects with industry partners will also be part of this role. To effectively execute the responsibilities of the CABA Managing Director portion of the role, candidates must demonstrate a passion and competence for (i) identifying, developing, and maintaining corporate partnerships that drive collaboration between CABA, the MSBA program, and the analytics industry, (ii) organizing and promoting CABA’s annual programming to include workshops, hackathons, seminars, or in-class guest lectures, (iii) interacting with the analytics student club, and (iv) overseeing the center’s operating budget.
