Role Description:
The Electrical Engineer for our medical device R&D team will develop, test, and deploy the electrical systems for new devices to expand the Podimetrics portfolio of remote patient monitoring products from concept to launch. The ideal candidate has experience developing digital and analog electronics for medical use, is knowledgeable about FDA-regulated design and development processes, is comfortable in a fast-paced and rapidly growing business, and is passionate about patient care.
This is an on-site position based in the Somerville, MA office. The Electrical Engineer will help build out the R&D lab space and necessary equipment. Podimetrics has implemented a COVID-related policy for employee safety and requires all staff based at the office to be fully vaccinated.
The role comes with a strong base salary, bonus, and equity structure.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the electrical analysis, design, implementation, and verification of novel remote monitoring medical devices consisting of hardware components, data acquisition, and wireless transmission.
- Collect and translate user needs to define hardware requirements and develop specifications.
- Conduct proof of concept and breadboard experiments for research, functional testing, and user evaluation.
- Design schematics and PCB architecture for new devices, interfacing with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to meet requirements.
- Oversee external vendors and consultants to execute special design components, board layout, and initial production.
- Ensure electrical design and documentation complies with medical safety and EMC/EMI standards and support third party IEC 60601 safety testing.
- Create documentation adhering to quality procedures, regulations, standards and industry best practices under Design Control.
- Analyze test data and draw conclusions from findings to determine efficiency/reliability of prototypes.
- Assist manufacturing and operations with design transfer of new products and sustaining engineering to improve reliability of existing products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or similar
- 5+ years experience developing Class 1 or Class 2 medical device electronics
- Experience with IEC 60601 compliant design and testing
