You want to be an important member of a strong team of other makers who take pride in their work and support each other. As a Composite Strengthening Systems Field Engineer (CSS FE), you will be responsible for delivering education, services and support to both internal and external customers on Simpson Strong-Tie’s (SST) Composite Strengthening Systems (CSS) product line. You will interact with coworkers, SST’s business partners as well as external customers to provide consultation in the areas of design, development, and implementation of CSS products to meet project needs. The CSS FE will work in conjunction with the CSS Engineering Services team to develop project-specific solutions and be responsible for the communicating those solutions back to customers. You will support the Southeast US Field Engineering team by establishing and maintaining relationships with design professionals in order to obtain the specification of the CSS product line and other relevant SST products. You will be a top-level contributor/specialist who will provide consultation on complex projects while performing a variety of other tasks. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)
Work individually and with team members to identify opportunities to provide consultation in the areas of design, testing, development, and implementation of Simpson’s CSS products to meet project needs. Communicate project-specific solutions back to customers and coordinate with other team members to ensure successful follow through on projects from concept to completion. (50%)
Work individually and with team members to develop and maintain relationships with designers and decision-makers at engineering firms within the region and obtain specifications of Simpson’s CSS products. (20%)
Work individually and with team members to identify opportunities to conduct technical presentations for individuals, groups and professional associations involved in new construction and/or the repair and rehabilitation of existing structures, focusing on general technical knowledge as well as the advantages and use of Simpson’s CSS products. (20%)
Work with marketing and product management on the best way to introduce new products and information to the market. Work with the product management team to help in identifying new potential products and tools needed to increase sales of the product line. (5%)
Other duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to, consistent CRM management and usage, scheduling, submitting expense reports in a timely manner, regular maintenance of company-owned vehicles, and other duties as assigned. (5%)
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

B.S. degree in civil, structural or architectural engineering required.
Licensed Civil or Structural Engineer (PE or SE) required
Two years of design experience with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) systems applicable to industry design guides.
Fiber reinforced polymer: Demonstrate expertise in concepts, practices, and procedures relating to FRP, relying on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish project goals.
Speaking and Communication: Communicate verbally in an appropriate way for the intended audience. Ability to effectively present information to top management, customers, and other groups.
Presentation Skills: Ability to develop and present captivating presentations and incorporate technical concepts to convey a message to audience.
Customer Focus: Quickly and effectively solve customer problems and maintain productive internal and external customer relationships. Readily readjust priorities to respond to pressing and changing customer needs. Recognize potentially adverse customer reactions and develop better alternatives.
Teamwork: Maintain a collaborative approach in dealing with other Simpson Strong-Tie employees. Demonstrate a genuine commitment to reach mutually beneficial solutions.
Problem Solving: The ability to come up with unique ideas about a given topic or situation, or to develop effective ways to solve a problem.
Software: Frequently used software includes: Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access as well as other software including AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Acrobat, and SharePoint. Simpson Strong-Tie web apps are often used as tools for design.
Math: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Language: Ability to read and interpret documents such as architectural and structural plans, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Reasoning: Effective analytical, technical, and problem solving skills. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Driving Record: Possess and maintain a driving record which complies with company policy.
This job requires 25% domestic travel.
WORK STATUS & LOCATION
This full-time, exempt position is located in the Southeast US.
Relocation may be considered for this position.
