SmithGroup is looking for a BIM Technologist with experience in engineering (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) to join our team in the San Francisco or Los Angeles office.
SmithGroup project teams are adept at working between Revit and many other technology platforms to develop rich Building Information Models which embody a project’s design goals from concept through construction. As a core member of our Digital Delivery Group, you will provide practitioners with mentoring in the use of BIM authoring (Revit), automation (Dynamo), as well as other delivery technologies (Navisworks, Bluebeam, Recap, BIM360, etc.). Along with other members of SmithGroup’s Digital Delivery Group, you will help set the direction and adoption of design workflows, automation, BIM content and standards as well as evaluate and develop use cases for new technology across our entire firm.
Working with us, you will:
Provide practitioners with mentoring in the use of computational design, BIM authoring technologies and visualization software.
Provide training in the effective application of a wide range of Digital Delivery technologies to new and existing staff.
Get the opportunity to work with our engineering discipline leads and practitioners to develop, deliver and document innovative solutions to firmwide and project centric related problems.
Assist and lead practitioners in BIM project initialization activities, creation of BIM execution plans, project support activities, contract review for BIM requirements, and complex project facilitation.
SmithGroup has offices across the USA and China. As a member of our Digital Delivery Group, you will assist in developing firm-wide technology solutions, content and workflow development, training collateral and our BIM strategy. This includes the research, testing and deployment of related software and hardware to foster innovation at every phase of the project.
An ideal candidate has:
Seven or more years of experience within the Engineering or Construction industry including previous experience in a BIM leadership role.
Strong knowledge of all the toolsets of Revit with a focus on Engineering Systems, complementary BIM authoring software and related add-ins (Ideate Tools, CTC’s Revit Suites, Imaginit Clarity)
Experience with engineering focused software tools and processes, like energy modeling (IES, Insight), lighting analysis (Revit Solar/Daylighting, Agi32/Elum Tools), AutoSprink and CFD.
Curiosity about how different software packages work together; seamlessly transferring and translating data between them.
Previous experience in providing support in the use of Revit platform applications in complex model and team environments, with less common deliverables like IFC and COBie.
Extensive experience with Autodesk’s Cloud hosting solutions for Revit (BIM360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Desktop Connector, etc.) as SmithGroup is heavily invested with this platform.
