The Process Engineer provides process engineering expertise and support on all new and existing molding programs. The Process Engineer is a key member of the molding team responsible for new, processing and troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and documentation.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Works with facility management, operations teams, Finance, Human Resources and Sales Departments. Will report and support corporate engineering on plant level activites and projects that are happening in the plant. Will be required to travel to customers as needed.
Provides direction on design and development activities to improve, modify or design new equipment and processes.
Participate in design review meetings for initial evaluation of part and mold design
Oversees key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis.
Responsible for the mold validation process, including set-up, troubleshooting, process monitoring, and validation
Processing and Troubleshooting: Provide integral support to the production floor by monitoring and troubleshooting production processes
Work with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance and Production teams to identify, analyze, and correct any production related issues
Maybe required to visit customers on planned service calls with customers to support the customer base and growth as needed.
Help support the monitoring of the plant tooling control and change control system while adhering to designs, specifications, and standards established by group engineering.
Confers with vendors to determine product specification and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts.
Helps support corporate enigneering on coordinating activities of mechanical engineering section to design and develop tools, machines, controls, equipment and mechanical processes.
Ensures proper documentation and reporting.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in interdepartmental projects critical for the continuous improvement of production related activities
Assist in continuous improvement of Company work force by training Process Technicians and Mold Technicians on efficient machine operation and set up techniques
Works with the Engineering team to resolve technical tooling and process problems associated with both new and existing tooling
Scientific approach to problem solving machine issues. Tracks statistical data and utilizes SPC to continuously monitor and improve the efficiency of the molding operations.
Creation of machine, work cell, and process data for stable and repeatable production
Assists with corrective actions to resolve non-conformances as root causes are identified
Ensure there are no quality or production interruptions or errors due to a lack of giving or seeking information
Perform all duties in compliance with Company policy, Safety is the first consideration
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Engineering or related engineering field
Minimum of 4 years of working knowledge of blow molding.
Must be on the floor hands on individual
Working knowledge of plastic technology with emphasis on molding
Detailed knowledge of plastic mold and part design
Experience with SolidWorks or other comparable 3D modeling software
Proficiency with MS Office software suites (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Excellent communication and record-keeping skills
Must be knowledgeable of lean manufacturing, and principles of statistical data analysis. Requirements include proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and CAD.
