The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible to effectively lead a team of robotics and hardware technicians to develop and improve all aspects of the company’s robotics, 3D printing processes, foaming/milling production lines, and factory facilities while focusing on safety, quality, and productivity. This leader will work closely with the VP of Operations in support of executive decision-making for company goals affected by robotics and hardware activity. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise as well as innovative and design-thinking capabilities that foster a team mindset of continuous improvement. Create team objectives for safety, quality, asset management, and line performance
Oversee company’s quality assurance plan
Implement preventative maintenance procedures
Develop efficient processes for managing extruder tooling, tool crib, and critical spares
Establish quality system documents and procedures in line with company objectives
Monitor & implement all aspects of plant safety systems.
Learn, master, and improve all techniques used in the C-Fab™ process
Collect, interpret, and make recommendations on relevant data and testing results
Develop strategic relationships with suppliers of hardware and tooling components
Create accurate BOMs and production system control documents
Create and execute strategic company priorities in an agile development framework
Work with Production team to improve robot operator experience
Participate in KPI definition and reporting
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field
6+ years of managerial experience in related field and with lean manufacturing
Demonstrable competencies with CAD/CAM, Solidworks, and Pro E
Experience with industrial robotics in a production environment
Hands on experience with machine development, fabrication, assembly, & integration
Effective written and verbal skills
Demonstrable proficiency with common office software (Google Apps, MS Office, etc.)
Willingness and ability to relocate for job and to travel when necessary
Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field
Experience with robotic extrusion and robotic milling functions
Custom fabrication in a production environment
