The Office of Public Utilities, Finance Division is seeking an individual to manage and supervise the financial and accounting operations and activities of City Water, Light & Power (CWLP). Assume responsibility for the accuracy and timeliness of the financial statements. Develop accounting policy to ensure that the processes used in the Accounting Department comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to maintain accurate, timely and complete accounting records. Manage cash flows to ensure proper payment of debt service, payroll and vendor invoices daily.
This position requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of an undergraduate college degree with a major in accounting and four years related experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license/registration is required. Knowledge of and experience with an ERP system is required. Thorough knowledge of GAAP and GASB pronouncements and experience with FERC and NARUC chart of accounts is required. Current employees (where applicable) and persons hired or rehired after 1-1-17 shall maintain their bona fide residence within the corporate limits of the city during all periods of service. Newly hired or rehired employees have 12 months from date of hire to establish city residency.
