QA Manager - Assistant is responsible for assisting the QA Manager in implementing, overseeing, and maintaining the ALS Tribology Quality Management program at all locations globally.
QA Manager - Assistant has the following duties:
Proficiency Testing and Global Quality Check Samples:
Planning, implementing, and overseeing laboratory Proficiency Testing (PT) participation in recognized third party and internal programs (global quality check (QC) samples), including obtaining appropriate material for internal programs.
Evaluation of results from internal and external PT programs including assigning required actions, trending performance over time, and establishing “true values” for internal materials.
Overseeing and evaluating PT required actions for appropriateness and completion, including closure of associated documented processes.
Advising the QA Manager of PT required actions needing accreditation body notification, or the QA Manager and/or Technical Director when there are chronic issues requiring higher level solutions.
Planning, implementing, and overseeing blind internal audit and/or blind testing of quality samples separate from the PT programs.
Evaluation of results from blind internal audits and testing including assigning required actions, trending performance over time, and immediate identification of high risk activities or results.
Assisting the QA Manager with planning, implementing, and conducting vertical audits for all global locations.
Assisting the QA Manager with review of completed site internal audits for all locations.
Assist the QA Manager with oversight and evaluation of department participation in nonconformance procedures, including closure of identified non-conformances for all locations.
Assist the QA Manager with documentation reviews and/or revisions.
Participate in or lead quality meetings and/or training events as required.
Assist the QA Manager with designing, implementing, and maintaining a centralized total quality management system.

Bachelors or Associates degree in science, with focus on chemistry preferred.
American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification is preferred such as CQA, CQIA, CQT or equivalent.
Certification in ISO/IEC 17025 internal auditing is preferred.
At least 2 years of experience in quality management from a testing perspective.
Experience with quality control standards such as ISO/IEC 17025 or related.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Proficient in basic statistical analysis as outlined in the ASTM D02 Committee Standards is desired.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Basic computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office.
Strong math, statistics, and analytical skills.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
1 – 3 years of experience in the use of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) preferred.
Critical analysis skills with the ability to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Adheres to safety policies and practices.
