Where the Chemistry Happens
Lead development projects in the cementitious grouts and mortars technologies (new and existing products)
Coordinate R&D programs and communicate with other key departments such as marketing, sales, operations, product management, etc.
Develop lab formulations, evaluate, and implement production scale-up at the plants.
Generate new ideas to supplement product portfolio. Work with business partners to identify opportunities for growth through innovation and technology advancement.
Project planning and work load sharing with other scientists and technicians.
Rapidly solve production problems related to product raw material issues and formulations.
Lead qualifications of raw material substitutions in proven product formulations.
Work with Technical Services team to resolve customer related issues, non-conformance, and product performance.
Mentor junior scientists and technicians on technologies and scientific issues.
Participate in Industry organizations to represent BASF as an expert in cementitious technology.
Present technical findings and recommended solutions to management and leadership teams.
Interact with other senior technical staff in BASF on various project and technical related topics.
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
M.S./Ph.D. in physical sciences or related field with 10 years of experience. BS degree holder with minimum of 15 years of experience may be considered.
Expertise in cementitious technology with knowledge of raw materials and their interactions in mortar and grout product formulations.
Strong experience in leading projects from lab testing to production scale up by working with Operations and business teams.
Experience in training scientists and technicians. Mentoring experience in technical area will
Proven history of product development in a technical organization.
Experience working with QC teams at manufacturing locations on testing and product approvals.
Knowledge on writing product performance specifications to meet product applications and installation.
Have exellent communication skills to keep the stakeholders informed on project status.
Strong work ethics, safety oriented, and a team player.
Other beneficial requirements:
Six Sigma training and certification.
Knowledge of operating required testing equipment in labs.
Ability to use instrumentation to characterize cementitious raw materials (microscopy, XRD, SEM).
Knowledge of plant operations that produce cementitious bagged products.
Understands customer needs and quickly address them to through lab evaluation.
